Description
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a candidate to contribute to the implementation of ptychography, an advanced computational imaging technique. Ptychography utilizes a series of electron diffraction patterns to reconstruct the electrostatic potential of a sample, even down to atomic resolution. This method offers improved imaging results with simpler hardware and reduces electron damage to samples.
The role involves advancing the reconstruction algorithm and validating it using experimental datasets obtained from state-of-the-art electron microscopes. Theoretical insights will play a crucial role in guiding experimental setups, and experimental constraints will need to be incorporated into the algorithm development process.
Requirements
This position requires a deep understanding of wave optics and dynamical electron scattering in solids, combined with expertise in numerical optimization techniques. Candidates should have:
- A strong background in physics and mathematics.
- Proficiency in Python for software development.
- Prior experience with electron microscopy is beneficial but not mandatory.
